FAQs

What types of logs do you use and where do you get them?

We use premium select, renewable, dead standing dry primwood logs from the SL Mainland. All window/door openings & exposed log ends are texture finished. We support and contribute to sim reforestation.

What size of logs do you use?

The prim logs we use range from 0.5mX10 up to 1.0mX10m. Due to the "grey market" nature of mega prims, we restrict use of oversize prims to platforms or privacy screens. No mega prims are used in the construction of our log homes.

What is included with the log home package?

Our home packages are sold to you with all log components included and rez boxed in place, such as wall logs, beams, 2nd level log floor joists, trusses and purlins if applicable. A deck, fireplace (with some models), DMI© Teleporters, and DMI© window tint system, are all included as well.

Is delivery and setup included?

Yukon Log Homes is happy to ship your log home or log cabin anywhere across Second Life. Assistance is available to help set up your new log home, deck and teleport on your site, on request. (Initial, one-time setup).

Are custom modifications able to be done to the home after purchase?

I sell the cabins as "mod" to enable purchasers to customize their homes, remember though, that many of the textures are custom and some homes are not copy.
I'm sorry, but no, the textures are not available separately.
We will consider requests for custom work on the homes after purchase, our rate for custom work is $2,500L/hour with a minimum half hour charge.

I purchased a Yukon Log Homes cabin, how do I set it up?!

Yukon Log Homes Cabin setup instructions are included with each purchase, as well as shown below:

Thank you for your purchase of a Yukon Log Homes Cabin!
The cabins are packaged in "Jack-In-The-Box" self rezzing boxes to make setup easier.
DON'T "UNPACK" IT!
Drag your "rez-box" out of inventory..
Once the box is placed, move it to aprox 10m off the ground, orient the top picture to face you, and while still in edit, right click the box and select "touch". This will bring up the menu, and allow you to select "rez". Once the cabin rezzes, use edit to move the box, and the cabin will follow along. If you need to sink the cabin into the ground, bring up the menu again while still in edit, select "terraform" and your land will adjust to the cabin as you move it. (you must have permission to terraform on the land in order to use this option)

Once the home is in it's final location, bring up the box's menu once more and select "freeze", this will lock your cabin in position. You can then delete the rez box.
If the cabin was sold as Mod/Transfer/No Copy, don't click "unrez" or you will lose your only copy of your cabin! If the cabin is copy permitted then you may use this function with no ill effect.

The doors/fireplace/decks are not linked to the cabins with most models, you will need to select them along with the cabin (in edit) if you need to move them after "freezing" the cabin.

Door Controls

The doors will respond to "show help" in chat (after touching the doors) and give you instructions on their use. The instructions for the door are also included in the script. Basically, you touch the doors, and while they are still open, they will listen to the following instructions in chat. (Use channel "0", meaning no channel at all, just in open chat)

"show help"
"lock"
"unlock"
"add Avatar Name"
"remove Avatar Name"
"add enforcer Avatar Name"
"remove enforcer Avatar Name"
(enforcer status gives that user the ability to add/remove other names to the door, the owner always has enforcer status)

Teleports

The DMI teleports for the cabin are simple to set up, simply place the downstairs tp directly below the point at which you want to land upstairs. The loft teleport should be placed directly over the point at which you would want to land downstairs. A big thanks to Deimos Damone for the custom teleports!

In newer cabin models I have pre-installed the DMI version teleports.

On models that are using "sculptie stairs" on the front deck, ie. the Dark Denali, the stairs are actually two prims. There is the textured layer that you can see (the sculptie layer) and then there is a transparent layer beneath it. Due to the limitations of sculpties, the visible stair section needs to be unlinked and phantom. This enables the stairs to be functional.

Tints

The window tint is ready to go, the control panel is on the wall. It is set so that only members of the group which it is set to can control it. If you want anyone to be able to control it, set it to "no group". Only some of the windows are set to tint, in some models the other windows are one-way glass, so you can see out, but not in. Remember that whatever group you have "active" at the time of rezzing the cabin will become the group the cabin (or any object you rez) is set to. To change this afterwards, go to edit on the cabin, and set the cabin to the group ( or no group) that you prefer.
